A Task force which was made under congress orders and authority has suggested a cut in military spending. The suggested cut is of $1.1 trillion which applies in next decade. Overall defense spending of America are of $567 billion during the year 2011. From 2011 to 2020 the expected spending on defense are $7.4 trillion. The expenditure incurred on war in Afghanistan and Iraq is separate from the above mentioned spending.
Different Cut Programs

Few of the tasks which are suggested to roll back by sustainable task force due to suggested defense budget cut are ending military programs which costs a lot such as V-22 Osprey, fighting vehicle, -35, retiring naval ships as much as 57, cutting military jobs as much as 200,000 and many more steps to cover the cut. All of the above mentioned steps are recommended to cut in coming next ten years.
Who Includes In Task Force?
The said task force includes representatives from different think tanks working under US government. The sustainable defense task force also includes representatives of different watchdog organizations and respected congress members D. Mass, R. Texas, Ron Paul, Barney Frank and other members.
Barney Frank who also heads the financial services committee also has recently called in his speech in congress for cutting the number of troops deployed in Asia and Europe as much as one third. According to Frank Barney by cutting troops in Asia and Europe regions around 35,000 in Europe and 65,000 in Asia which ultimately results in saving of $80 billion from 2011 to 2020.
Saving Money By Reducing Nuclear Weapons
Another major step which recommended by that sustainable defense task force is cutting nuclear weapons.
Budget Cut in Missile Defense Program

Missile defense program also under attack by the task force and it is suggested that a major cut has been observed in this program. At the moment $10 billion are spending over missile defense program. After cut it remains just $3.3 billions per year. However the task force has suggested that if the development work which was already done in this program has been proved than congress will continue the previous budget before cut.
Removing Different Brigades and Battalions
Another major step suggested by the task force is removing four infantry battalions of Marine Corps and five brigades of army combat teams. In total it is 30,000 troops which results in $147 billion saving in coming ten years. Most of those above mentioned 30,000 troops are working in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Defense Ministry also issue instructions to different departments that save $ 100 billion in coming five years. Those $100 billion will be shifted to more important programs of defense ministry which are higher on priority list.
