Military relocation is not an easy task. Entire family has to get prepared mentally and practically. It is hard to get adjusted to the new environment and neighborhood. Packing up for luggage and transferring entire family from one place can be hectic, especially when moving to another city or state. As soon as order is issued, start planning immediately. Follow these guidelines:

  • Make appointment with military transport provider. They are busy most of the time, so get an early reservation.
  • Get help from military family center. They will answer all your queries in a satisfactory manner.
  • Surf worldwide websites about military installation. These will provide ample information.
  • Get to know about financial support offered for military relocation. It will help fulfill all expenses.
  • Inform your housing office about your departure. They will instruct you how to vacate quarters.

Military kids are at a disadvantage. They don’t have father available for them as for civilian families. Work is serious, time consuming and tiresome. So, children are usually neglected. There are many child care centers that provide excellent facilities.

At present, Department of Defense (DoD) is operating 800 Child Development Centers in 300 different places. Everyday 200,000 military children are taken care of in those centers. Get your younger ones enrolled in one such institute.  It is easy to find the best center for your child. There are abundant sources of information.

Many military children get overweight. The reason can be a poor diet and sedentary lifestyle. Teach your kids to be physically active. Assign them different task that involve movement. Play games such as basketball, baseball, soccer. Let them do gardening every weekend. Take them to grocery store or shopping mall. They will burn extra calories there, without realizing.

Diet is equally important. Children love tempting foods. These are junk and have low nutrition value. Develop their taste for healthy and organic edibles. Tell them what foods are good for them and which ones are harmful.

Conclusion

Military life is can be stressful if not managed properly. Family care is difficult, so are financial responsibilities. Act sensibly to resolve all issues as soon as they start to occur.
