Mans civilization is marked with wars for power and land. Out of these wars excellent men have distinguished themselves as brilliant leaders and great men of war. This is the story of ten such men.
Who They Are
There are many great warriors but the following 10 can be considered as the greatest 10 of all the time.
1. Alexander the Great

First in the list is Alexander the Great of Greece Born in 356 BC. Alexander the Great conquered the entire world as known then. Alexander the Great became great due to his quick tactical thinking and his love for the men who fought under him.
2. Leonidas I

Number two is Leonidas I. Leonidas I is remembered for the battle of Thermopylae. Leonidas I was killed in the battle and his body was beheaded and crucified.
3. Sun Tzu

At position three is Sun Tzu a Chinese general. Sun Tzu was brilliant strategists as evidenced by his classic book The Art of War. He became the author of the first book on military theory. This book has been adopted by business schools to teach strategy.
4. Hannibal Barca

The fourth warrior is Hannibal Barca a Carthaginian General. Hannibal Barca conquered Rome. Hannibal Barca was a master strategist who developed outflanking tactics. Hannibal Barca poisoned himself before the Romans could force him to surrender .
5. Gaius Julius Caesar

Number five is Gaius Julius Caesar Greatest general in Rome’s History. Gaius Julius Caesar led campaigns against Gaul, Britain and Germany.
6. Miyamoto Musashi

At number six Miyamoto Musashi also known as Sword saint, one of the best-known samurai in Japanese history. Miyamoto Musashi fought more than 60 duels in which he was undefeated. Miyamoto Musashi is credit with creating the nitoryu technique in which you fight with two swords.
7. Lieutenant Audie Murphy

An American Lieutenant Audie Murphy stands at position seven. Lieutenant Audie Murphy destroyed several enemies’ machine gun in minutes, he also jumped onto a burning tank destroyer and turned its machine gun on the enemy, and he cut off a German counterattack of six tanks and 250 infantry practically by himself in World War II. Lieutenant Audie Murphy was distinguished by his quick thinking and bravery. Lieutenant Audie Murphy died on a plane crash.
8. Saladin

Saladin Kurdish Sultan born in 1138 in Mesopotamia, present Iraq claims position eight. Saladin returned Jerusalem into Muslim hands in the Third Crusade. Saladin was recognized for generosity, chivalry and impressive military accomplishments. He died of natural death.
9. Spartacus

Position nine is reserved for Spartacus Born in Thrace in 109 BC. Spartacus led the revolt against Rome during the Gladiatorial War. Spartacus is remembered as a legendary commander not only for his successes in battle but for his courage, strength and compassion.
10. Richard I

And ending the list at position ten is Richard I (Lionheart) The duke of Normandy. He died of natural death.
