When women were allowed to join military, navy and air force, they lived very successful life. They were awarded with many medals and honors because of their bravery. Women served armed forces as nurses, secretaries and warriors. Here is the list of top 10 women who serves their best in military:

1. Mary E. Walker

Mary E. Walker

She was the only woman in military force who received the Congressional Medal of Honor for her duties during Civil Wars. She belongs with an abolitionist family and was born is Oswego, New York. She served as assistant surgeon in Cumberland Army in 1863. She was awarded with Medal of Honor in November 11, 1865.

2. Annie G. Fox

Annie G. Fox

She was born on August 4, 1893. She served as the Army Nurse Corps and was the first lady to receive the Purple Heart for her extreme courageous services. She was also awarded by the Bronze medal. Once, she was injured badly but she never gives up and continued her job with more bravery and courage.

3. Margaret Corbin

Margaret Corbin

She was fought in the revolutionary war of America and was awarded by many medals of Honor. She was born on November 12, 1751 and got married with one of the best man of battlefield in 1772. Both of them fought bravely in many wars. She was the first soldier, who was buried at WestPoint cemetery.

4. Cordelia E. Cook

Cordelia E. Cook

One of the many brave medical females, Cordelia E. Cook was an Army Nurse. She was first and one of the females who was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart at the same time. Both of these awards are considered as the sign of extreme courage, bravery and honor.

5. Elsie S. Ott

Elsie S. Ott

Many females were awarded with different medals and awards during their services as Nurses in Army but this lady was a specialized nurse in flights. She was one of the brave fighters who took part in first air evacuation flight in January 1943.

She completed his final training at the 158th Station Hospital at Karachi, on January 26, 1943. She was awarded by the first Air Medal because of her services as Flight nurse.

6. Oveta Culp Hobby

Oveta Culp Hobby

She was the first lady who was awarded the U.S. Army Distinguished Service Medal in 1945. She was born in Killeen, Texas. She was also the first lady to wear proper uniform after military nurses. She was died in 1995. There is a located in Texas which is named after her.

7. Loretta Walsh

Loretta Walsh

She was born in Philadelphia on April 22, 1896. She was awarded as the first woman in U.S. Navy. She has many services for U.S. Navy. She became the first female Chief Yeoman at the age of eighteen. She is very important and famous for her services for navy.

8. Opha M. Johnson

Opha M. Johnson

She was the first woman to enlist in the Marine Corps on August 12, 1918. At that time, women were only providing services in cooking, cleaning, nursing and secretaries but this lady make history by joining the Marine Corps. She was also fought against Japanese at west coast.

9. Elizabeth C. Newcume

Elizabeth C. Newcume

In September 1847, this woman joined Army and fight in the Mexican-American War. She used to wear Joan of arc dress during that war. She was awarded a land warrant for 160 acres.

10. Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc

She was born in eastern France and laid many examples during the hundred years of her militaristic career.  That is why; she stands as a symbol of courage, pride and bravery in the military. She was given the title “Maid of Orleans”.
