Yoga to Reduce Military Stress

The military job is tough in a sense that physical activities in battle fields often increase the tension and depression in the minds and bodies of soldiers and officers. The recent studies reveal that yoga can help to reduce the tension and relax the military personals so that they can live a normal life when they return back from missions. Most of the soldiers have enough symptoms of psychological distress as well as bad health status when they are deployed in battle zone.

Another recent studies shows that almost every forth soldiers which returns from Iraq and Afghanistan is suffering from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) which is a condition of high depression. Not just that but that depression will flow towards family members of the soldiers and officers as the family members who have direct interaction with the military men are facing same mental disorder.

Military Psychiatrist or Alternatives

As the problems of depression and hypertension rises in the military which creates the need of psychiatrists. To meet the needs of recent days a cadre with the name “alternative” is created.  Those alternative practitioners have been utilized by the military through different ways like yoga, massage, meditation, acupuncture etc.  

Those alternate practitioners of military are of the view that yoga and meditation is very effective tool in fighting against PSTD as well as other mental problems. Both yoga as well as meditation is effective for both current and retired military personals.

Initially officers and soldiers have either no or very less believe in yoga and meditation but as the times pass and awareness comes in or society about those things the impact on military also turns positively. Now interest in yoga and meditation is more than ever before. These are now considered as alternative health choices for military personals.

Research also reveals that after taking two or three yoga sessions, military personals feel much relaxed and can sleep well. The physical stress in body caused by different combat operations also reduces many folds. Moreover yoga is also helpful in making the minds of soldiers strong enough to fight against the enemy and teaches them do not give up even in extremely hard conditions.

Gaining Information about Yoga

As the interest is growing in yoga, the military men do not rely on their official instructors. Many of the military personals start their own yoga practice at home such as stretching the breathing etc. For this most people use information which they gain through guides and books available in the market or CDs. Internet is also a useful source to get information about yoga sessions and latest developments in yoga field.
